Carbureted Chaos “Sh*t Show”

The “Carbureted Chaos” is snowmobile racing with stock 2000 model year and older sleds. The racing will take place on a Snocross-themed track, with banked corners and rollers (No jumps). This is designed to be a fun event for the snowmobile community. We encourage competition, but there is no need for any drama.

  • Early registration is encouraged and can be completed online by visiting the Winter Sports Storm website: https://www.wintersportsstorm.com/registrations

  • Day off registration is available as well. (Main building at Rock Falls Raceway)

The racing format is as follows: **Subject to change

Heat-LCQ-Main

Heat Races: 3-5 laps, depending on what Mother Nature allows us to build for a track

  • The number of heats will vary by # of entries

  • Top 3 advance straight to Main (# may change depending on entries)

LCQ (last chance qualifier): 3-5 laps, depending on what Mother Nature allows us for a track

  • One LCQ for each class

  • Top 2 advance to Main (# may change depending on entries)

Main: 5-8 laps, depending on what Mother Nature allows us for a track

  • Top 3 positions recognized (Trophy and prize money TBD)

Classes: 

The following races will run the Heat, LCQ, and Main format:

600cc and up: (you may enter a smaller cc sled in this class if you wish)

  • 600cc and higher

599cc and under: 

  • 599cc and under

Vintage 1980 and older: (We may add multiple vintage classes if there is a big turnout)

  • Stock 1980 and older sleds any cc 

  • 5 laps

Open:

  • Any sled that meets the 2000 and older criteria

The following races will be a one-time race (More will be added if time and entries allow):

40+ Race: 

  • 40+ years old to enter

  • 5 laps

  • Open to any sled that meets entry requirements of stock classes

Tandem Race: 

  • Two people on one sled (sled must meet stock class requirements)

  • 1 lap per rider (2 total)

Relay Race: 

  • 4 person teams

  • 1 lap per rider (4 total)

  • Each rider has their own sled. (Sled must meet stock class requirements)

  • Rider must pass hand off point before the next rider goes

Powderpuff: 

  • Female racing

  • Open cc, sled must meet stock class requirements

  • 5 laps

Junior race: Requires parent release waiver 

  • Any sled that meets stock class requirements allowed 

  • 10-14 

  • 15-17

  • 4 lap races for both

120cc: Requires parent release waiver

  • Open track with a time limit

 

Sled Rules:

**We hold the right to DQ or move you to a different class if we suspect any major mods. All sleds must be “Stock”, any sled with obvious performance modifications will be kicked to an open class

Engine:

  • All internal engine components must remain stock. This includes cases, cylinders, heads, domes, pistons, rods, etc.

  • Chassis/Engine Combination must be an OEM combination that was available in a sled built in 2000 and later

Exhaust: 

  • Pipes must be or have been commercially available. No hand-built custom pipes.

Fuel Tank:

  • Must be a factory-style fuel tank and secured safely.

  • Any fabricated tank has to pass tech inspection before being allowed to race.

 

Hood:

  • The hood must be securely fastened.

  • OEM appearing hood.  No lightweight hoods to weight savings (except open classes).

 

Suspension:

  • Must be original or the same style offered for the model and year of the particular sled from the factory.  

 

Handlebars:

  • Must be an original style or an aftermarket replacement.  Handlebars may be reinforced.  Hooks are allowed.

  • No homemade handlebars.

 

Track:

  • Original, stock replacement, or any aftermarket.

  • Any machines that had cleats from the factory must be riveted on and not bolted.  They cannot be sharpened, ends cannot be welded shut, and they must be of original size & design.

  • Carbide studs are OK. Ice picks are NOT allowed, but the maximum clearance above the track lug is 3/8”.

 

Seat:

  • The seat must be stock appearing.  No late model seats, no springs or suspension seats.  Absolutely no risers, no extra foam, no cut-down seat for weight saving (except open classes).
